Over 110 women and girls have been killed in our country in the last ten years. Many of these murders were premeditated. The terrified women and girls had sought assistance from public institutions. Regardless, none of them were spared. Our society has been plagued by a sick macho mentality for years. Even today, men regard women as their slaves, their property. Today, one in every three women is violated. Why are women who have received a court-issued protection order killed? Why are those guilty of violence released from prison so swiftly through numerous maneuvres? Where do they get the confidence to beat and kill women in any location? Is a woman’s life in Albania worth that little? When will the relevant instances “wake up” and hand down the appropriate punishments?!
